AMERICA IN THE BALANCE

AMERICA IN THE BALANCE
American Dream or Woke Nightmare
—–Rick Scarborough

I listened to Rick Scarborough recently on the radio—definitely a breath of fresh air, desperately needed right now.
That is why I’m recommending his book, AMERICA IN THE BALANCE.

Read about Rick by entering his full name.

And his website is

There are a few voices sounding the alarm and giving the urgent call to Christians for this time.

SENIOR VIRTUES OF SLOW

‘Slow’ is better than the alternative—‘stopped’.

‘Slow’ can be thought of as taking longer to get to the stop sign of life.
Hopefully that counts for something—at least it helps people laugh.

‘Slow’ gives opportunities to notice and understand important things you may otherwise miss.

‘Slow’ definitely makes it easier to hear from God.

‘Slow’ is good—make the best use of it, when ‘hurry up’ becomes an oxymoron.

‘Slow’ forces less worry about all the things you can’t get done, or simply can’t do anymore.

ERRONEOUS VS TRUE

Any words of man, including mine, may be suspect for error.
Any words of man, including theologians, highly revered for centuries or millennia, may be suspect for error, or worship.

Test for truth,
Test for reliability,
Test for endurance,
Test for dependability,
Test for any preacher,
Test for all teaching,
Test for all reading,
Test the doctrine,
Test the church,
Test Christians,
Test yourself-

+ How much Bible is in the teaching/doctrine ?

+ How much Bible is the source, the foundation, the starting point in the teaching/doctrine ?

+ How much Bible is in the label or name of the teaching/doctrine ?

Throughout history man repeats the pattern of building on what we think—and we think we know more, know better, know-it-all—and people flock to follow the latest ‘new ideas’ just like the Greeks in Paul’s day.
We find this in both secular and theological matters, while it all boils down to the search for spiritual meaning in life, found in Jesus the Word of God.

And we repeat the pattern of thinking we’re not subject to repeating the pattern—and anyone questioning the successful, prevailing ideas (especially theological or moral), is run out of town, or worse.
History is riddled with repeat.
Are we indeed better now, for good ?
A few centuries ago the church was responsible for countless murders of those who spoke against the church adding man’s words to God’s Word and keeping His Word from the people.
Hmmm.

BIBLE ? – – – CHURCH ? – – – YOURSELF ? – – – NOTHING ?

What are you going to believe ?
Does everybody believe something ?
Is it even possible to believe nothing ?

+ Believe the Bible ?
+ Believe the Church ?
+ Believe Yourself ?
+ Believe a combination of these ?

All mankind is pro-choice—from day one—including Eve, before she was pregnant with Cain.
Obey God—Choose life
Disobey God—Choose Death

God is holy and never changes.
He made absolutes in creation.
He gave absolute rules to creation.
He gave absolute rules to Adam and Eve.
He gave rules for life and death.
He gave rules that never change.
He gave rules with consequences.

God said, “Do this—and enjoy.”
God said, “Don’t do this—or die.”

But God is also pro-choice.
He chose to make man, for life, for fellowship, someone to talk with and walk with.
He made people, to love Him, willingly, by choice . . .
Or not ?

That’s one more way we can’t understand God completely.
Why did He do it that way ?
But since He did, and since He is still in charge—we should read and believe everything He ‘chose’ to tell us about how He runs things—especially how He wants to restore our relationship.

“BLESSINGS”—–LAURA STORY

“We pray for blessings
We pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering

All the while, You hear each spoken need
Yet love us way too much to give us lesser things

Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops?
What if Your healing comes through tears?
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You’re near?
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise?

We pray for wisdom
Your voice to hear
We cry in anger when we cannot feel You near
We doubt your goodness, we doubt Your love
As if every promise from Your Word is not enough

All the while, You hear each desperate plea
And long that we’d have faith to believe

When friends betray us
When darkness seems to win
We know that pain reminds this heart
That this is not our home

Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops?
What if Your healing comes through tears?
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You’re near?

What if my greatest disappointments
Or the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can’t satisfy?

What if trials of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are Your mercies in disguise?”
