I expect to make it to the end of my life—I’m not so sure about today sometimes.
NO CELL PHONES IN . . .
NO CELL PHONES IN THIS ROOM OR THIS ROOM OR THIS ROOM !
+ No cell phones in the bathroom !
+ No cell phones in the bedroom !
+ No cell phones in the room where you are eating, TOGETHER !
I could write for an hour on the best use for each of those rooms, and how I thought of this article sitting in one of them.
But it is more effective if I let you think and talk about how you and yours will use your time there, without cell phones.
SENIOR MOMENT/OXYMORONS (4)
As time goes by, I find it interesting to compare functioning of the brain to a computer—sometimes similar, sometimes not.
— Memory upgrades or additions become unavailable.
— The hard disc seems to rotate slower, which explains why it takes longer reviewing stored information, to find what you’re looking for.
— You just can’t have as many files open at one time, like in the past, or like other people.
— What used to work well in your life, you are told is out of date–and upgrades simply don’t fit.
— Pressure does not increase productivity—another crisis blows another circuit—can’t afford that.
— Older systems are no longer supported, and everything you do takes so much longer.
— The cost of inefficiency and failure of logical function, add up in real dollars, with no reprogramming to correct the damage.
— Thinking about another better system is not helpful—actually, that kills your own system, almost like it has personality and gets offended. Yes, it does, because it’s you, a person and not a technical machine like a computer.
WELL-WORN – – – WORN WELL
There is an apt saying:
A Bible that is falling apart probably belongs to a person whose spiritual life is not falling apart.
I can’t help but do some wishful thinking when I reach in my pocket, that the following saying would be true as well:
A wallet that is falling apart probably belongs to a person whose financial life is not falling apart.
Well, at least that person is using his money, and not hiding it.

SENIOR MOMENT/OXYMORONS (1)
I have occasional senior moments when my memory works.
TWO LONGHORN OXYMORONS
As a Texan I am fascinated by longhorns, and I especially appreciate the beautiful longhorns just across the fence from where I live.
As a father and father-in-law of several Aggies, I have the obvious thoughts that need not be spoken about the other . . .
So, those two statements explain the following two longhorn oxymorons:
Fat Longhorn
conservative longhorn
ORIGINAL STICKY NOTES
Ruth Graham bought cigarette paper and wet it to increase the margin space for writing notes in her Bible.
I WAS THINKING
“The other day I was thinking . . .
And then I realized that didn’t work.”
HEALTH = COMFORTABLE ?
Healthy is Comfortable !
Is Comfortable Healthy ?
Health and Comfort—is that a right ?
Health and Comfort—is that reality ?
No Pain, No Gain.
“Man is born unto trouble as the sparks fly upward.”
“Woe to those who are at ease in . . .”
“Take your ease, eat, drink, and be merry . . . This night . . .”
“We must through much tribulation enter . . .”
God rarely chooses to use someone mightily, without first testing him severely.
“Whom the Lord loves He chastens, and scourges . . .”
What is Comfortable ?
“He will send you a Comforter,” not Comfortable.
“God does not call us to be nice; He often call us to be confrontational.”—–Sandy Rios
“Jesus and I will recognize each other right away, because of the time spent ‘in the fellowship of His suffering.'”—-Joni Erickson Tada
“I’d rather be in this wheelchair, knowing Jesus—than out of it, not knowing Him.”—–Joni Erickson Tada
Christians in China pray for American Christians to have persecution, so we can experience the sweetest relationship with Jesus.
“Endure hardness as a good soldier of Jesus.”
“The peace of God passes all understanding.”
Jesus promised us peace and blessings and comfort, not comfortable.
Spiritual comfort—promised.
Physical comfort—not promised.
Rich man and Lazarus—beggar had uncomfortable here, comforted and comfortable in heaven—rich man had comfortable here, torment in hell.
“God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
Before the fall, work was a blessing, not a curse.
After the fall, work is still a blessing, but cursed to be hard.
Paradise Restored—work without weariness, work without worry.
So tired, so beat, so exhausted—just want some rest—oh, that’s what heaven’s for.
