PIONEERS AND US (6)

I’ve noticed a reluctance to ask someone to lend a hand when we need help.

It becomes awkward when we have nothing to offer in return, or pay.

There seems to be a universal expectation today to pay or return a favor when someone helps someone.

I’m pretty sure the pioneers were not nearly so self-conscious—they just helped without obligation.
