The pharisees would rather see blind people stay blind and lame people stay lame and publicans stay sinners, than accept Jesus’ healing them and forgiving them, especially on the sabbath, because that threatened their comfortable, establishment position.
The republican leadership in America today would rather lose elections than support conservative Christian candidates, because that would uncover their corruption, and risk the cushy conditions of their permanent, profitable life in Washington.
