DO YOU TRUST GOD, OR DO YOU . . . ?

One day years ago my pastor started his message at church in the park with the following words of Jesus,
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father Who is in heaven.”

Then he walked around the picnic tables under the open pavilion, and spoke a little slower,
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father Who is in heaven.”

In silence, he walked around the picnic tables under the open pavilion, and then spoke a little slower than before,
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father Who is in heaven.”

Again, silence, then even slower,
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father Who is in heaven.”

Again,
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father Who is in heaven.”

And again,
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father Who is in heaven.”

So, any wonder why I remember that day?

Sometimes we need to be still (long enough), and know that He is God, so we are ready to hear clearly, and then go and do the will of our Father Who is in heaven.
