“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into all kinds of trouble.”
Now who in their right mind in America would follow that idea?
Well, it all depends on meeting the person who wrote it.
It’s part of a bigger picture—the Person who wrote it has a plan, with a future, with resources, with a purpose that’s bigger than “all kinds of trouble.”
But it only works when we turn everything over—put Him in charge.
When we let Him do the counting in our life, we begin to count differently.
He didn’t say to pretend joy, act like joy, fake joy—He said to count it joy.
You simply follow your Heavenly Accountant’s instructions and write all your troubles on the positive side of the ledger, AND THEN watch to see how He works them all together for good.
It’s not our responsibility to make everything work out.
It is especially not in our ability to make everything work out right.
It’s not in our power—yet we spend enormous time and energy and worry in trying to make things happen, mostly because we hear about other “successful” people getting more done and making more money than us.
Everything hinges on making Jesus your accountant for life—for all of life. Then you start learning that His accounting system works. You may even start understanding how His accounting system works. Even if you don’t understand it, you can still count on it.
“Count it all joy . . . “
