G.O.P. — “Look, we can’t keep this up (postponing the inevitable) forever, or we’ll have mutiny in our ranks.  Our positions mean as much to us as yours do.  It’s time for you to show some good faith in negotiations.  [You don’t want us to really get tough and do something “???again???”—that makes us look bad]”
