TITANIC – – – DID YOU KNOW ?

Did you know the band was playing and singing the following song on the deck on the Titanic on the way down?

“Nearer, my God, to Thee,

.     Nearer to Thee.

E’en though it be a cross

.     That raiseth me.

Still all my song shall be

.     Nearer, my God, to Thee,

Nearer, my God, to Thee,

.     Nearer to Thee.”

W O W !

Wonder  Of  Wonders !

I stepped outside this morning to see the sunrise, and just said,  “W O W !”

Don’t miss such opportunities to be wowed.

Wonder of Wonders – – – painted in the sky every day (see April 16—#7,#9,#10).

SIN

My Sins:

—Covered

—Forgiven

—Forgotten

—No More

“My sin (oh the bliss of this glorious thought),

My sin, not in part, but the whole,

Is nailed to the cross,

And I bear it no more.

Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord, Oh my soul!

It is well with my soul;

It is well, It is well, with my soul.”

MAKE A DIFFERENCE – – – 180 MOVIE

It is a noble goal to make a difference in the world—in someone’s life.

How about a challenge to make a difference in your own life—in thirty minutes?

Watch “18o Movie”  on the internet, today.  It will likely impact your life more than anything else you may do in that thirty minutes.

Then, if you want to make a difference in someone else, tell them to watch it.  You can even get DVD’s for less than two dollars.

PRINCIPLE – – – OR – – – PROPAGANDA

If your values and policies are based on the bedrock principles that served this country well,  you will consistently defend them.  If you don’t believe in America’s history, you have to use propaganda to get rid of freedom and free enterprise.

The sad fact of history is that repeating lies and empty promises can work.  You can agitate people and then manipulate their thinking and then control everything.  It worked for Hitler.  It worked for the communists.  It’s happening here, now.

REALITY REFLECTION

Working late no longer has the appeal or the potential that it used to.

COMMITMENT – – – OR – – – SURRENDER

In the first Gulf War, when the Iraqi soldiers gratefully gave up to the United States, they graphically demonstrated the meaning of surrender.  We need to remember the lessons learned and the difference between commitment and surrender.

“God, help me – – – or – – – God, take over.”  (pastor of Brooklyn Tabernacle)

I commit to God – – – or – – – I surrender everything to Him.

I decide to follow God’s way – – – or – – – I give up and let Him lead.

I try to figure out the will of God – – – or – – – I stop, wait, and listen.

God, bless my finances – – – or – – – I place everything I have on the altar, first.

God gets 10%, I get 90% – – – or – – – it all belongs to God.

God helps those who help themselves – – – or – – – God helps the helpless.

Let God be God – – – It works better that way – – – It works only that way.

“Let God be true, and every man a liar.”   (His Book    Romans 3:4)

WEAPON OF CHOICE

About three years ago I called in to a national radio talk show and said,

“The weapon of choice for the next wannabe dictator of the world will be the internet.”

DOWNSTREAM MEDIA

When is it good to be mainstream?

If you are a fish, you are in the stream.  The question is, which way do you swim, and why?

A new fish starts way upstream and eagerly swims downstream to live in the ocean.  The key words here are “eagerly swims downstream.”  The fish’s life starts on the backs of other fish that struggled upstream with their last energy in life to spawn and continue their fish line for another generation.

When all the fish are swimming downstream, imagine that some may soon realize they don’t have to swim anymore—they can just drift, go with the flow, save the effort, and supposedly live happily ever after.

When they get to the end of the stream in the ocean, or when the stream goes over the cliff in falls, they find out they forgot how to swim, and they eventually forget how to return upstream to spawn and maintain their fish line.

If those fish reporting on the flow of fish downstream, simply report on the flow around them, they have no perspective on the mainstream—that is, the entire stream, falls and rapids and lakes and oceans, and spawning grounds that exist only way upstream.

If all the fish drift downstream, and only listen to the downstream media, very soon the stream will have no more fish.  Then something else will soon inhabit the stream.

Both the fish line and the freedom line must have some members fighting upstream against the stream, or the fish line and the freedom line end.

Several groups in our society have a special responsibility beyond drifting downstream.

01)  Christians, led by pastors, called by God and conscience, who boldly speak out against all evils to defend life and family and freedom now.

02)  Journalists, who sound out clear and complete perspectives on the entire stream of our history, rather than just cast a vote for the easy drift downstream.

03)  Educators, who understand they are warriors on the front lines of the culture war, and commit to teach our heritage, at any cost.

04)  Statesmen, not politicians, who care enough about the country to keep it.

05)  Patriots, who remember and identify with the Patriots of 250 years ago, and act accordingly.

06)  Parents, who fight upstream to “bring their children up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord,” and sacrifice everything necessary to save them from today’s strong downstream current.

LIVING IN THE COUNTRY

You know you’re living in the country when—

01)  You go to town and the sound of a siren puts you on edge.

02)  You get nervous crossing a street.

03)  Your favorite quotation is from Abraham Lincoln’s father:  “When you can see the smoke from your neighbor’s cabin, it’s time to move on.”

04)  Your dog usually smells like skunk or cow manure, and you hug him anyway.

05)  You don’t relate to the need for a privacy fence.

06)  You can smell cigarette smoke half a mile away.

07)  You notice the stars every night, and you can see them.

08) You consider it a compliment when someone says, “You look like a mountain man.”

09)  You don’t have to spend money to enjoy wildflowers and feel romantic.  More than anything else you want to share the beautiful outdoors with someone.

10)  You appreciate frequent time with God outside, looking at the skies He paints just for you to notice, without any distractions except for His creation.

These lists are supposed to have ten items, but I must add one more:

11)  You believe your children are better off growing up in the country.
