DID GOD REALLY SAY ENOUGH ?

The Bible is enough.
It tells us what we need to know.
It does not tell us what we don’t need to know.
We don’t need to speculate—we dare not speculate—about what the Bible does not tell us.

Apply this to everything else.
Read the Bible for what we must know about . . .

  • origins
  • sin
  • salvation
  • end times
  • heaven
  • hell
  • any doctrine

Consider:
“Did God really say ?”
That trick worked the first time in the garden—it tricked Eve and Adam.
That same trick works over and over ever since.

Consider this also:
Did God really not say ?
Ask both questions whenever dealing with any issue.

It’s okay, it’s good, it’s wise, it’s essential to be a strict, purist, literalist follower of Jesus with what He tells us in the Bible.

Closing question:
Does not the Bible clearly and unmistakably give direction for our lives—more than enough to keep us busy obeying what He says—Jesus, The Word ?

WHERE DOES GOD FIT IN YOUR LIFE ?

Bad question.
But true for many people.

God expects to be in charge of your life, not fit in somewhere.

WHAT IS THE MAIN THING ?

☆ THE MAIN THING—
GOD

☆ THE MAIN THING ABOUT GOD—
THE BIBLE

★ THE MAIN THING GOD SAYS IN THE BIBLE—
MAN, SIN, JESUS, FORGIVENESS,
HEAVEN, HELL

I learned this from Ken Hamm*, when fielding dozens of distracting questions:

Get back to the main thing, not diversions to avoid the central Bible message—creation, sin, salvation.

I DON’T UNDERSTAND

“I don’t understand.”
— frustrating
— Biblical

Do you express your frustration with those words ?
Do you then try harder to understsnd and fix what you don’t understand ?

More frustration ?

When we try to understand life’s frustrations, and we think we understand, and talk like we understand—we are not on Biblical footing.

So, how is the comment of frustration Biblical ?

If you say, “I don’t understand”, and you give up on your understanding, you are on the first step toward ‘Biblical understanding’.

The Bible says, “. . . do not lean on your own understanding.”
And how do I do that ?
The Bible says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.”

Memorize that verse and say it aloud over and over to overcome the frustration of trying to understand.

God’s Words have power, and His Words have power in our lives when we claim them by saying them—all to His Glory and His Will.

GOOD MUSLIMS

When Obama lied, he was just being a good muslim.

Apply to all ‘good’ muslims speaking today.

Apply to all advocates who say islam is a ‘peaceful religion’.

Truth about muslims:
Peaceful, friendly, negotiating, neighborly—when islam is not in control.

Truth about muslims:
CANCEL peaceful, friendly, negotiating, neighborly—when islam takes control ANYWHERE.

Muslims have a book.

XXX — It tells them how to be a good muslim.

XXX — It tells them to lie.

XXX — It tells them to be peaceful—fake, phony, false, faux peace, to gain power.

XXX — It tells them to kill non-muslims when they can.

XXX — It tells them to crush Christians, Jews, Americans, Israelis, Capitalism, Democracy, Freedom, Women’s Rights, Family, when they take control ANYWHERE.

XXX — It tells them directly the plans of satan, from the pit of hell, from demonic allah.

XXX — It tells them how to enlist millions more to go to hell.

XXX — It is the playbook of satan, with all the strategies of “the father of lies”.

COMPREHENDING GOD

We cannot comprehend God.

But thank God, what God tells us about God in the Bible tells us what we need to know about God, what we can comprehend, and more.

When we try to add to what the Bible tells us about God, in efforts to explain God better and comprehend God more, we only create more words that are more impossible to comprehend than what the Bible says.

When man added ‘trinity’ to explain God, it basically backfired, and severely complicated comprehending and understanding God.

It became necessary ever since to try to explain the word ‘trinity’ and the doctrine of ‘the trinity’.
Hopeless failure, to the tune of millions of attempts times ten.

Yet the word ‘trinity’ trips off our lips so smoothly and so frequently, as though it is from the Bible itself.
Unfortunately, most Christians think it is.

What if we just skipped the word ‘trinity’, and spent all the time and energy and writing trying to explain the man-made term—what if we spent all that effort just preaching what the Bible says ?

BIBLE AND BEARING BURDENS

A friend tells you about their troubles, trusting you to care.

Sometimes immediately popping off the right Bible verse is not the same as bearing someone’s burdens.

You may have the right verse—but see if the person feels that YOU lifted some of their burden.

How do we obey Jesus ?

“Bear each other’s burdens, AND SO fulfill the law of Christ.”

Sometimes we don’t have to fix someone’s thinking or their situation right away.
Hold your words, and Bible verses, for a moment.
Sometimes we must first show we care, so they know we ‘get it’.

THE DEVIL’S DEVICES

I observe – – –
The most effective device the devil uses to keep us from putting our problems, our troubles, in perspective is this:

Continuously (over and over and over again) plunging us into the next ‘job’ that we M U S T do immediately—so we can’t/don’t deal with the big issue that troubles us ongoing.

Combined with this:

Relentlessly, repeatedly making us so weary that we HAVE TO sleep (crash) !
So very tired that we can’t even work, let alone figure out why we can’t get enough done.

We may have some friends who remind us of a Bible verse on a sincere, warm fuzzy poster that should fix us (at least for now)—so they can feel they’ve done their part and move on without our burden on them.
Where is the Christian friend that actually knows how to “bear each other’s burdens, AND BY DOING THAT FULFILLS THE LAW OF JESUS.” ?
And that is what makes a difference, more than the correct theological answer.

Question:
++ Who do we know that deals with the bottom line, the real hard question, the big WHY ?, the WHY ME ?, the WHY THIS AGAIN ?, the WHY OTHERS MOVE AHEAD, AND I’M WAYLAID, BLINDSIDED BY ONE MORE SURPRISE AFTER ANOTHER ?

Question:
++ Who do we know that sees this, but offers nothing, except to communicate or imply, “What’s wrong with you ?”

Question:
++ The bottom line question is, “Are there any real answers, anywhere ?”

YES, THERE ARE ANSWERS.
But–
— not in trying harder.
— not in more of what isn’t working
— not in advice from others
— not in my own new ideas
— not in better tools, techniques
— not in better doctors
— not in copying others
— not in blaming others
— not in blaming myself
— not in excuses
— not in some ‘power’ of thinking

The Bible says, “. . . lest satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.”

Satanic devices such as:
XX– “I can’t ‘get anything done’ on the list I felt so positive about before THIS happened !”

Satanic devices such as:
XX– “I can’t afford to stop and think about it—I can’t afford to waste the time, if it doesn’t fix the problem now, so I can move on.”

Satanic devices such as:
XX– “I can’t slow down, with the backlog hanging over me.”

Real answers – – – available ? or not ?

Hmmm !
Stop ?
STOP !
S T O P ! ! !

You say you can’t afford to stop ?
You say you can’t——except when “something happens”——and you do stop ?

OH !—Here’s another thought, to pile it on:

Is it the same as this:
XX- “I can’t afford to stop working on Sunday (all day Sunday, every Sunday) when I’m so behind already.”

Like this:
XX- “I can’t afford to tithe—when I’m struggling financially already.”

XX- “Truth is, I’m having a hard time finishing reading this article, but a friend asked me to read it.”

Somewhere the Bible says,
“There’s nothing new under the sun.”
Got that right ! (As though I can say)

The Bible (only the Bible) can give us the perspective we need.
God does not change.
6000 years of history—He’s the same.
The Bible doesn’t change.

Can God’s instruction help is with
WHY ?
WHY ?
WHY ?

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart . . .”

  • – – Should I trust Him with everything ?
    OR
  • – – Should I take care of some things that He might not take care of ?
    (Like my schedule)
    (Like my energy)
    (Like my money)
    (Like my 7-day work week)

“. . . and do not lean on your own understanding . . .”

  • – – Should I ask Him how to do everything ?
    OR
  • – – Should I figure out some things myself, as in, He expects me to use my brain ?

“. . . In all your ways acknowledge Him . . .”

  • – – Should I tell God I recognize Him in every detail, over and over and over and over ?
    OR
  • – – Should I apologize or excuse myself for getting weary of praying so much ?

“. . . and He will direct your paths.”

  • – – Should I assume, should I count on God for literally running every single last detail of my life, every day ?
    OR
  • – – Should I notice other successful people around me who don’t take God and Prayer and Bible and Family Time and The Lord’s Day so seriously ?

And, my friends, that’s just one Bible verse—MORE WHERE THAT COMES FROM !

“Be still ! ! ! And know that I AM God.”
Be Still = STOP

1 – STOP
Every morning, first thing, with God.
(How much time does that take ?—a few minutes.)

2 – STOP
Many times every day, with God.
(How much time does that take ?—a few seconds.)

3 – STOP
Every day, with your family, with God.
(How much time does that take ?—a few minutes, to half hour.)

4 – STOP
Every week, for a whole day, alone and with your family, with God, to rest.
(How much time does that take ?—14% of your life—“six days work, one day rest, for our benefit”—“Did God really say?”—He said so.)

1-STOP (includes your Bible)

2-STOP (includes memory Bible verses)

3-STOP (includes interaction and Bible)

4-STOP (includes learning, studying, memorizing Bible verses, everyone saying/reading the Bible aloud)

When you do all this, you can’t help but pray and sing, and more (like help someone who needs help, like tell someone who needs Jesus how you know Him)

Can you do this secretly, without saying something at home, at work, at . . .?

DADDY ON MEMORIZING THE BIBLE

A long time ago, maybe sixty years, Daddy expressed concern about the influx of new Bible translations—a few then, many now.
Daddy said that many different translations could/would contribute to less Bible memorizing.

Yes, true—at any rate, it makes memorizing more difficult.
It takes more conscious effort to memorize, no longer hearing the same wording of the same verse, from multiple sources.

Everyone seems most interested in communicating the Word with new and ‘better’ wording, so the listener can get it most easily.
So we hear the Bible in many different ways, and can’t remember one because we can’t pick one.
Rarely do we memorize anything, without hearing or reading it over and over in the exact same wording.

Memorizing Scripture is not memorizing concepts—it is memorizing words, that hold the concepts, that change our lives.

As a writer, very interested in the rules/principles of English grammar (since ninth grade with Mrs. Lindeman), I have concluded:

Structure Communicates, not just words.

And I believe that is precisely why the King James Version (KJV) worked so well for centuries, and continues effectively today, amid dozens? of new translations.
A bit of examination shows the grammar and sentence structure of the KJV is not only correct and balanced, it is very hard to improve on.
The NKJV takes care of the old word obstacles.

Tribute to Daddy:

— One
Daddy spent lots of time reading his Bible, in our house, and in his pickup.
By far the greatest gift, heritage, blessing that anyone can get from their dad is seeing him with his open Bible every day.*

— Two
Equal gift, heritage, blessing from Daddy—hundreds of Bible verses in my memory, with recall to this day, because Daddy repeated them every day in morning devotions, and all day long.**

And this miracle storehouse of Truth—filled with absolutely no effort of my own.***
Adding to that now takes EFFORT and TIME.

It’s certainly worth it.

Pick a translation, and stick with it.
Mark it up.
Underline.
Circle.
Write notes, dates, names.
Leave your Bible open to a verse to memorize, on a place where you will see it several times a day.

“Don’t worry about the quantity of Bible you ingest—it’s how much Bible you digest that makes you strong.”

* And, seeing Daddy on his knees, praying every day.

** “And these words which I command you this day, shall be in your heart;
You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.”

*** “Unto whom much is given, much will be required.”

LET ME TELL YOU ALL ABOUT GOD

The Bible tells us about God.
The Bible tells us a whole bunch about God.
That means God is telling us about God.
God is telling us about Himself.
And it’s not just random, or sketchy.
We don’t have to fill in any parts that we imagine He left blank or unclear.

Who wrote the Bible ?
We didn’t.
So we have no obligation to upgrade or add anything that’s not there.
We have no right or room to make a presumption about God, and say something we came up with, that’s not there, that God missed.

What about practicing the novel idea, the super-simplified ‘method?’ of Bible Study, that reads God’s Word and only goes back and forth in it to make connections and gain more understanding ?

Is not the Bible loaded enough to give us food for thought and material for study ?

I think it is arrogant for any theologian/teacher to write extensive books to give his answer for every question.
In today’s complex proliferation of spiritual resources, the name behind the resource often carries more weight and time for the reader/listener than the Bible they are explaining.
I challenge someone to minimize what they have to say and maximize what the Bible says.

I realize such an approach to answers for Bible questions will not bring personal recognition or fame or money.

So, why are we in ministry—to sell books, to sell ourselves, to make our name well-known—all because we have so much insight, revelation ?
Paul was LOADED with revelations, and then, THEN, what . . . ?

“Lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh—a messenger of satan to buffet me—lest I should be exalted above measure. [note the repeat]
For this I pleaded with God three times to take it from me.
But God said, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in your weakness.’
Most gladly, therefore, I will glory in my weakness, that the power of God may rest upon me, because when I am weak, then I am strong.”

I thought it was all about Jesus.
“He must increase—I must decrease.”

Why do people flock to and listen to and read the well-educated, well-known preachers/teachers of the day, and those of the past ?
Is it all about learning to walk closer with Jesus (it can be), or just learning more ?

I will acknowledge benefit from individuals with extensive study to share with others, if that centers on two things–

  • Directing people to more passages in the Bible that relate to a subject or question.
  • Sharing personal testimony how Bible verses have impacted their life.

And never forget the purpose of the Bible , and it’s Source—Jesus—The Word:

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

“For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it pierces even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It judges the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

God’s Word does that best in its purest form—natural, organic, with no additives—just like our physical food.

What a time, what a moment in history, to press for healthy spiritual nutrition directly from The Source, with no alterations or ‘improvements’ !

What a breakthrough in our spiritual well-being !

What a challenge !

Challenges in detox, getting free from dependence, addiction to spiritual diets that contain ten times more human additives than the Original Food !

Challenges that threaten the enormous economics of the spiritual additive industry—just like the powerful money motive in food additive production.
