THE REMNANT REVOLTS – – –

What is “The Remnant”?

(a few thoughts before I answer the question)

Sometimes the remnant is in the majority—

.          —then the remnant falls asleep.

Sometimes the remnant is persecuted—

.          —then the remnant strengthens.

Sometimes the remnant wins—

.          —then the remnant relaxes.

Sometimes the remnant loses—

.          —then the remnant wanders.

Sometimes the remnant is focused—

.          —then the remnant is powerful.

Sometimes the remnant loses its focus—

.          —then the remnant searches its soul.

Sometimes the remnant tries harder to fit in—

.          —then the remnant loses its identity.

Sometimes the remnant identifies with a political party—

.          —then the remnant loses its message.

Sometimes the remnant is afraid to speak out—

.          —then the remnant becomes weak.

Sometimes the remnant is divided—

.          —then the remnant loses its influence.

Sometimes the remnant thinks it is losing—

.          —then the remnant becomes discouraged.

Sometimes the remnant thinks it doesn’t count—

.          —then the remnant thinks it is too small.

Sometimes the remnant is hit with “divide and conquer”—

.          —then the remnant individuals say, “I’m the only one left.”

On that note I shift from singular to plural.

Sometimes the remnant forget who they are—

Sometimes the remnant forget whose they are—

Sometimes the remnant forget why they are—

Sometimes the remnant forget how to revive—

Sometimes the remnant forget how to recover their influence—

So, now we have three questions:

What is “The Remnant”?   (actually, What are “The Remnant”?)

How do they revive?

How do they recover their influence?

N0w, here is where I’ll lose some of you to “ho-hum” or “defensive.”

The Remnant exist continuously through all history, and today.

The Remnant are usually a minority, with potential influence far beyond their numbers.

The Remnant go through all the phases listed above, and more.

The Remnant are often invisible, with usual mistaken identity.

The Remnant are always on the winning side in the end.

(please re-read all the above after you read what follows—and think)

What are “The Remnant”?

The Remnant are those people who surrender everything to Jesus, and who live that way no matter what the cost or consequences.  The Bible is their guide for everything in life, and it works just as it is written.

How do they revive?

The hard fact is that God’s people, His true followers, wander and lose their focus on Him and His Word.  They fall under the world’s influence, and God has to bring them back—with whatever it takes.  Sometimes “the goodness of God leads to repentance,” sometimes the warning of God leads to repentance, and sometimes the judgment of God leads to repentance.  The longer the frog stays in the heating water, the harder it is to get out, and some don’t make it.  So the remnant get refined before they get revived.  Refined means everything not pure is gone.

How do they recover their influence?

Business as usual does not restore the remnant’s influence.

Trying harder with some of the world and some of God doesn’t work.

The rightful influence of the remnant on the culture is automatically restored when supernatural changes happen inside individuals—seeking God over deep, convicting sorrow for sin.  When everything lukewarm and double-minded gets purged from a person, that person will pray like never before, read the Bible like never before, and the fire inside will make a difference to others.

And back to the title of this piece:

When The Remnant restore their identity with God, revive their intimacy with God, and recover their influence from God, their revolutionary impact on the world, will follow.  Then, . . .

COMING OUT OF THE “SANCTUARY”

(coming soon—I’ll be gone a few days)

GIVE US THIS DAY . . .

Give us this day . . . our daily bread, and the other stuff I need.

Give us this day . . . our daily bread, and my other priorities.

Give us this day . . . enough manna for today and . . .

Give us this day . . . our daily bread, and enough for my retirement.

Give us this day . . . our daily bread, and enough for future calamities.

Give us this day . . . our daily bread, and enough to pay for protecting what I don’t need.

Give us this day . . . our daily bread, and enough to pay my doctor when I worry about stuff.

Give us this day . . . our daily bread, and no trouble.

Actually, God, I know You focus on basic essentials, so here’s the deal:

You give us this day . . . our daily bread, and I’ll take care of the rest.

WHEN TRUTH IS TRUTH

Truth does not become Truth . . . when it becomes relevant.

Truth does not become Truth . . . when circumstances make people listen to it.

Truth does not become Truth . . . when the majority believe it.

Truth does not become Truth . . . when people open their Bibles.

Truth does not become Truth . . . when all goes well.

Truth does not become Truth . . . when hard times come.

Truth does not become Truth . . . when Congress sings “God Bless America.”

Truth does not become Truth . . . when you beat the system.

Truth does not become Truth . . . when it gets enough votes.

Truth does not become Truth . . . when I believe it.

Truth is Truth when . . .

That is not the way to talk about Truth, because it implies that there are times when Truth is not Truth.

TRUTH IS TRUTH . ! —at all times, in all places, in all cultures, in every debate, in every dilemma, in every living being.

We can’t define it, because we didn’t invent it.

We can’t define it, but we can find it.

We can’t define it, but we can draw a line with it.

We can’t define it, but we can live by it.

“What is TRUTH?”     —–Pilate, to Jesus

“I am the TRUTH.”     —–Jesus

“Your Word is TRUTH.”     —–His Book

We cannot alter or affect the TRUTH—but we can accept it.

The glorious TRUTH is this:

“Then Jesus said to those Jews which believed on Him, ‘If you continue in My Words, then you are my disciples indeed, and you will know the TRUTH, and the TRUTH will set you free.'”

What a deal—it is TRUE—and it is free.

BUSINESS AS USUAL

“I’ve got to keep giving everything to just put food on the table for my family.”

“What can we do now?”

“The democratic process gives Americans what they ask for.”

“Jesus will come someday soon and fix everything.”

“I dread the thought of persecution, but I’m not facing it yet.”

“Financial analysts tell us how to adjust, so we’ll get by, again.”

“History repeats itself, so it’s not really the end of the world.”

“Politics—that’s in Washington—I don’t live there.”

“Lots of product labels say things cause cancer—in California—I don’t live there.”

“Nothing changed in my life on November 7.”

“You win some—You lose some—I’ve got to go to work.”

“The re-elected ‘president’ said he’ll reach across the aisle, Nov.7”

“The Speaker of the House said he’ll reach across the aisle, Nov.7”

“Deficits are nothing new—nothing’s happened yet.”

“They haven’t blasted the Ten Commandments on the wall of the Supreme Court [just in their rulings].”

“We still hear ‘God Bless America’ at the end of speeches.”

“‘In God We Trust’ is still on our money—that should count for something.”

“We’re America—we should just get along with everybody.”

“Just tell everyone about Jesus—don’t worry about anything else.”

“What will be, will be—we can’t do anything about it.”

“When Martin Luther was asked if he would change his plans if he knew Jesus was coming back that day, he said he would still plant a tree as he had planned.”

“I’m just hanging onto my job”     —–average American worker

“I’m just hanging onto my job”     —–average American politician

I’ve written about “Business As Usual” before.

This time I’m leaving the above statements hanging, for thought.

WORST THAT COULD HAPPEN NOW

Culturally Compatible Christianity

“The worst thing that could happen is for the economy to rebound before the Church repents.”

.          —–quoted by Kirk Cameron from a friend of his, on AFR yesterday

BEST THAT COULD HAPPEN NOW

America now has a choice of two paths to return to God and greatness (or else . . . )

First Choice:  Christians can pray and choose to repent (change) now for not separating ourselves from the evils around us in this culture, and not speaking out against them – – – – – watching the godless media in news, music, TV shows, entertainment—storing up money that will soon disappear instead of helping others in need—intimidated into silence, from the pulpit and the pew, about killing babies and marriages—forgetting that our eternal vigilance is the price of liberty, to maintain it just as it was to gain it—keeping too busy to think about all this (that factor will change now)—and, getting too comfortable for too long to realize the warm pot that we should not be in, is near boiling.

WILL CHRISTIANS JUMP OUT OF THE POT, NOW?

or

Second Choice:  Christians will pray and repent and separate ourselves from the prevailing culture around us.

So what is the difference between can and will?

And what is the difference between Christians in the First Choice and Christians in the Second Choice?

Widespread persecution of Christians in the United States will draw a line separating Christians from all the others who think they are Christians.

And how will that look?  Now, when “God’s people . . . turn from their wicked ways”, it will include giving up everything we were not willing to let go of previously, when we tried culturally compatible Christianity.

In reference to the opening line:

America may or may not return to greatness.

Christians in America can certainly return to greatness, before God.

“CHOOSE . . .”

Today’s voter ballot has two choices:

O          TOP CHOICE . . .

“Now therefore fear the Lord, and serve him in sincerity and in truth; and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the Lord.

“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom you will serve . . . but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

“America, America, God shed His grace on thee;

And crown thy good with brotherhood,

From sea to shining sea.

“America, America, God mend thine every flaw,

Confirm thy soul in self control;

Thy liberty in law.”

O          BOTTOM CHOICE . . .

“Lot was vexed with the filthy conversation of Sodom.”

Here is the message of a BHOB* ad for the current version of Sodom:

“Sex for the first time—set your standards high—BHOB*—makes a girl into a woman.

Voting for the first time—set your standards high—BHOB*—makes a girl into a woman.”

If Americans choose evil today, God will surely send more judgment on America.

For Christians in America who choose to serve the God of our fathers today, and every day, we will be persecuted during the judgment on America.  But God will bring us through it, if we separate ourselves from the godlessness around us.

Most Christians are not ready.  We are about to have a crash course in authentic Christianity.  There will not be much time to cram for the final exam, and many church members will not pass the test.

PERSPECTIVES

[this article is under every category but fun]

What does a passionate American patriot write the day before this election when we choose democracy or dictatorship?

Where do we get perspective?  I’ll tell you where I get my perspective.  I have two sources that serve me well, and they overlap in confirmation.

FIRST—–The Bible is relevant, like reading the perfect daily newspaper.

SECOND—–American Family Radio Talk at afr.net, and OneNewsNow.com  (just this moment, I hear that Marvin Sanders of AFR went to heaven this morning—he always gave anointed commentary on the world, and the most beautiful Christian perspective)

PERSPECTIVES

ONE—–Starting with the final perspective for all of us, I use a common phrase and a pointed illustration.  “Time, and Time, Again—and Then—Eternity”  If a million dollar bills make a stack as tall as the Empire State Building, and if a billion dollar bills make a stack to the moon and back several times, and America’s debt is 16 trillion dollars, then time is like a penny and eternity is like all the dollars in the world doubling every second.  “the parts that are for keeps” means “get Jesus, get saved, get heaven, get on His terms, get Him in charge, now”

TWO—–Casualties of war—and holocausts.  Young American lives lost in the wars of the past decade are comparable to the American lives lost in one day here at home before they are born.  Who is doing the killing in each case?  We must hold them equally responsible.

There was certain vindication when the Nazi murderers were brought to justice on the battlefield and in court.  The Justices in America and the President who appoints them must be brought to justice for supporting 50 million murders here.

Vote accordingly.

THREE—–In China, Mao agitated Chinese workers, and millions died, furthering Communism.  “Never let a crisis go to waste,” especially a crisis you created, for a purpose.  In America, BHOB* agitates for class unrest, and many will die here when the intended frustration on both sides hits the boiling point, soon.  “History repeats itself” is the consistent perspective.

Vote accordingly.

FOUR—–Skin color is not a choice.  Racism is a choice.

The true colors of a person are not determined by the color of his skin.

Anyone who makes an issue of skin color only confirms his own character color.

Vote accordingly.

FIVE—–I wonder how many of the people who arrange for dead people to vote, also believe in the Resurrection of Jesus.

SIX—–When Islamists and gay activists become militant, they reveal their true agenda and faulty premise, for all to see.  They both proceed incrementally for awhile.  But neither stops short of absolute power.

Vote accordingly.

SEVEN—–We have ample warning, if we’re paying attention.

“Vote for Revenge” is a current ad by BHOB*.

“Vote for Love of Country” is a current response ad by Romney.

Vote accordingly.

EIGHT—–Perspective on all things financial—personal and national:

You can forget the economic issues if God is not pleased.

Vote accordingly.

PRAY     PRAY     PRAY     (often)

VOTE     (once)

*Barack Hussein OBama—Say BHHHOB aloud and it sounds like the warning for Christians in the 2008 election: “Beware of sheep’s clothing.”

INSURANCE = UNSURANCE, not ASSURANCE

Can you buy auto insurance that stops the drunk driver, and your own mistakes on the road?

Can you buy home insurance that puts out a house fire?

Can you buy health insurance that prevents cancer?

Can you buy travel insurance that keeps the plane in the air?

Can you buy crop insurance that makes it rain—or stop raining?

Can you buy insurance that makes good neighbors?

Can you buy marriage insurance?

Can you buy children insurance?

Can you buy life insurance that keeps you alive?

Can you buy life insurance for after you die?

Can you buy success?

Can you buy happiness?

Can you buy love?

Isn’t living worth more than making more money?*

Isn’t living worth more than all the stuff you buy with that money?*

Isn’t giving more worth more than getting more?*

Isn’t God’s reward for your unseen giving to help people you know—isn’t that worth more than impressing one person with your stuff?*

*Jesus said that.

How many struggling people do you know that you could help with the money you spend just protecting and maintaining your stuff?

How many more struggling people do you know that you could help if you started giving away everything you don’t need?

What if the clouds looming on the horizon become reality, and you lose all your stuff, and the investments and insurance are worthless?

Someday, will you say, “I wish I had given it away to help people.”?

What will you say to Jesus, and what will He say to you, about your stuff beyond your needs, and about the needs of others around you?

Insurance unsures eternal perspective on blessed assurance.
