WHAT CAN I GIVE BABY JESUS ?

What can you give to impress a baby?

What can you give to impress the King of the Universe?

NOTHING!

This morning I stopped in awe, listening to a song about Mary pondering everything about her baby, Jesus.

So, what can I give baby Jesus?

It seems there are only two things Jesus wants—and only two things I can give.

+++ I give Him what I don’t have.

I don’t have money—so I give Him my debts.

I don’t have stuff to impress or boast—so I give Him my shame.

I don’t have a pretty past—so I give Him my sins.

I don’t have a good attitude sometimes—so I give Him my brokenness.

I don’t have a good memory—so I give Him my mind.

I don’t have a handle on planning—so I give Him my future.

+++ I give Him what I do have.

I do have a song to share—so I look for someone who needs Christmas cheer (like I do).

I do have words of hope—so I look for someone who needs encouragement (like I do).

I do have answers for the deepest questions—so I look for someone who needs to find meaning in life’s tough times (like I do).

I do have a heart for families—so I look for someone who needs real help in their relationships (like I do).

I do have an identity with the down and out—so I look for someone who needs Jesus and not religion (like I do).

I do have a gift for writing—so I look for someone who needs a word, that will make a difference in their life, in the parts that are for keeps ( l i k e   I   d o ).

What I don’t have:

“You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it.  The sacrifice God wants is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.”

What I do have:

“Whatever you have done for the least of these, you have done it unto Me.”—–Jesus

Finally, what can I give—I will give thanks.

America without God is not America.

The right side of history is not decided by current majority.

Marriage is not man’s idea.

Marriage is not man’s definition.

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked.”

“BE THANKFUL”

Be Thankful—Bible’s Order

“And be thankful; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

PEACEFUL ?

Just say Caesar is god, and then you can worship anything else you want.

Then Christians were burned, thrown to lions, and forced underground.

Peaceful ? ?

Hitler met with the church leaders and told them to trust him.  “I’ll take care of the church.”

Then he “took care of” the church alright.

And Europe.

And a whole lot of Americans.

And a whole lot more Jews.

Peaceful  ? ? ?

Who cares if the Japanese worship their emperor?

Who cares if that makes them crazy fanatics?

Then they bomb Pearl Harbor.

Kamikazes kill Americans.

Iwo Jima—needs no comment.

Peaceful ? ? ? ?

9-11.

Thousands of Americans killed.

Peaceful ? ? ? ? ?

Americans shot everywhere.

Americans beheaded abroad.

Americans beheaded at home.

In the name of Allah.

Peaceful ? ? ? ? ? ?

And now, as though we haven’t surrendered enough, publicly, we invite Muslims to pray in our National Cathedral, our country’s Christian church in our capital.

Anyone with a bit of history knows they claim for Islam every piece of property where they hold such an event.

The best case scenario is that the leaders of the National Cathedral think that compromise with Islam will provide protection.  Problem is, that never happens with this ideology.

The worse case scenario is that the leaders of the National Cathedral think that connection with Islam will provide protection.  Problem is, that means surrendering to this ideology.

The National Cathedral is no longer a Christian church, if Muslims are welcome to pray in it.

“What fellowship does evil have with good, or light with darkness?”

Peaceful ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

For the people involved in these decisions and statements, it is a fork in the road.

It raises the question of sanity, or else collaboration with the enemy, saying this evil is peaceful or workplace violence.

This enemy is the enemy of our souls, and the enemy of the soul of America.

We cannot afford any more compromise—in our government—in our churches.

WORRY—OR—PRAY—TODAY

When we are up against the wall— a paraphrase from His Book:

Not anxious.

Pray, in all this.

Plead with God.

Thanks, in this.

Tell God what we want.

He made today.

He gave today to all of us.

We know the beginning of today.

We don’t know the end of today.

Jesus knows.

Jesus loves us.

Jesus holds us.

Joy today.

Gladness today, in Him.

(from the beginning of the day of my sister-in-law’s cancer surgery)

“Be anxious for nothing,

But in everything by prayer

And supplication

With thanksgiving

Let your requests be made known to God.”

“The God of peace will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

“This is the day the Lord has made;

We will rejoice and be glad in it.”     —–His Book

MONEY—TO THE GLORY OF GOD

Put in the form of hard questions:

Do our finances bring glory to God when they look hopeless in advance?

And then, God has to do something miraculous, or else?

Put another way:

Is a Christian who is seeking to serve God in everything, supposed to always have money to spare in the bank?

Best answer:

God does not call us to be successful in the eyes of the world; He calls us to be faithful servants, stewards of what belongs to Him—and it all belongs to Him.

The only thing that counts in the end is whether I hear Him say to me, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
