“WE WHO CARE”

In my first two years of college, when Concordia in Austin, Texas was very small, we had a campus organization called “We Who Care”.

Students volunteered to help all kinds of people—old folks, mentally disabled, kids in need of a friend.

And we did it for Jesus, because He said, “Whatever you do for the least of these, you do it for Me.”

 

Question:  Who Cares?

Question:  Who Can Care?

Question:  Who Can Make a Difference?

 

Only people can care and make a difference in other people’s lives.  Be ready to respond to a need, and do it.  It is that simple.

Please know that governments cannot care about anything but the government.  Government welfare is about the welfare of the government getting bigger.

Government does its God-given job* only when the people limit government power.

When people forget that government is their servant, they soon become its slaves.

 

Back to the title:

We are the ones who care about others.

We are the ones who take care of others.

And, Christians are the ones who care because Jesus cares about us.

 

*Government is made by God to punish bad guys who do bad, and praise good guys who do good.   —–His Book

ARE YOU A CHRISTIAN? ARE YOU READY?

“Are you a Christian?”

“Are you ready, if you say ‘Yes’?”

If a gun is pointed to your head, or if a knife is held at your throat, or if someone asks if you’re a Christian without threatening you, you might ask the person if he knows what it means to be a Christian.

You may never know if you may be the last person to tell someone about Jesus, and how trusting in Him is the only way to heaven.

If you are a Christian, ask God every day to arrange opportunities to speak about “the one thing needful”—that is, sharing a word from His Book.

“CHANGE YOUR NAME, OR CHANGE YOUR WAYS!!!!!” *

America glorifies murder and violence on the screen—yet we decry killing when it spills over onto the news in real life.

America perpetuates the murder of babies—yet we exonerate and pay those who do the killing.

America makes a deal that leaves American Christians in Iranian prisons—yet makes a big deal trade for an American traitor.

American leaders advocate taking guns from Americans—yet endorse giving bombs to Iranians.

America knows our enemies can easily plunge us back 200 years instantly with assorted weapons on our infrastructure—yet we continue to live with total dependence on all our electronic technology going on forever.

America is racing to doomsday—yet we can’t get off.

America cozies up to the deadly vipers of terrorism—yet we turn our back on Israel in dead silence, in fatal silence, fatal to them and us, in spite of warnings from their leader before the whole world.

America fears the collapse of our fragile finances—yet we steadfastly stick to stashing our resources and hopes in the kingdom of Babylon.

American Christians will not repent of our sins in synch with Sodom—yet we broadcast cries for revival without “bringing fruit demonstrating repentance”.

In America, how many Christians today, right now, are changing their ways, sacrificing to the point of discomfort, to the point of suffering, by choice, to get right with God, to meet all the requirements of II Chronicles 7:14?

In America, until we who name the name of Jesus, see and turn from wicked ways in ourselves, individually and as His people together, God will continue to not hear, not forgive, not heal our land.

In America, the number one Biblical indictment of the church today is, “He went away sad, because he had great possessions”. I have heard that real life story waved off by American church leaders for decades, with “Jesus isn’t really saying WE should sell everything and give it to the poor and follow Him (just the one guy He was talking to then)”. How will we fare when it is taken away from us by force, by government, by collapse, by terrorism?

In America, financial advice given to American Christians does not apply to anyone without a portfolio or to Christians around the world. So, who is out of the will of God, clearly and repeatedly laid out in the Bible?

America has been the exception to the rule historically, clearly blessed by God, because we trusted Him and declared that trust publicly.
America will not be the exception to the rule historically as justified judgment falls on a nation that forgets God.
And, the unrepentant church will not be exempt.

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked.
Whatever a man (or nation) sows, that shall he also reap.”

“The wicked shall be turned into hell;
And all the nations that forget God.”

Better to sound the severe warnings of God while we have freedom.
Better to repent while we have time.

Busy, Busy, Busy
Each of us is so busy it becomes an end in itself to keep everything spinning in our own world—no time to stop and pray and read our Bibles, and let God examine our hearts and turn us.

PERFECT WEATHER – – – PERFECT WORLD

A few days ago we had the first break from summer—air conditioning at no extra charge—a perfect weather day.
I have often posed the question, “What is the worst thing that could happen if we had perfect weather days every day?”
The question usually doesn’t go anywhere, but it’s always fair game to talk about the weather.

Perfect weather doesn’t last.
But it does raise a bigger question:
“What would happen if we lived in a perfect world?”

It already happened. (Genesis chapter 3)

GOOD, PEACEFUL MUSLIM CITIZENS, UNTIL . . .

Make no mistake about this:  When enough Muslims have infiltrated America as good and decent neighbors, and they take charge of communities or cities or more, the vast majority will go along with the brutal practices of Islamic control.

If leaders lie in practicing Muslim teaching, so will the rest of their followers.

Their agenda is takeover, whether it’s the real bad guys who are in charge, or your peaceful neighbors that they are using to accomplish their goal.

 

The only exception to these facts is when Muslims become Christians.

And that goal on our part is the only reason to interact cordially with Muslim neighbors.

If Allah was any kind of god at all, he would say the same thing about moderate Muslims.

STASH YOUR CASH FOR THE CRASH

“Hold onto your money now.”

“Sit tight for now.”

“Wait till things settle down, after what’s coming in a few months.”

“Don’t do anything for the rest of the year.”

 

That seems to be the growing, widespread financial advice this fall of 2015.

In 2008 most people were caught blindsided and suffered severe loss of their stash.

In fact, it was so significant that I even heard some Christians saying maybe we shouldn’t have so much tied up—stored up—here on earth.  (a hint of Biblical admonition from Jesus)

But we got over it, just like we got over praying and going to church and singing “God Bless America” on the Capitol steps soon after 9-11.

New and improved financial advice kicked in, and people were taught smarter investment strategy.

And so it continued until now.

UNCERTAINTY LOOMING—CERTAIN INEVITABILITIES

It makes me think of an article I’ll be writing, how the over-used word “absolutely” in every interview is being replaced with “I don’t know”.

The coming economic “correction”, “downturn”, aka “crash” leaves the experts without answers, and only two choices for giving advice.

One, keep talking the same as always to your clients and your audience, so you can keep your own job as long as you can, like everybody else going to work one more day until the day we can’t.  And when it all blows over, we’ll pick up the pieces again and rebuild like always, because this is America.*

or,

Two, tell your people to “get out of the market”, “put your money under your mattress (literally)”, and wait till next year for updated advice.  (translation, “I don’t know”)

Oh, and if you’re really clever, you try to combine one and two.

DUAL LIVES – – – DOUBLE – MINDED ? ? ?

Such is the challenge for all of us living in today’s complex world.

Open your Bible—read James chapter one, especially about “double-minded” and “unspotted from the world”.

 

*Is this America?  Not the America that survived the crises of the past and defeated evil threats to liberty.  Not the America that turned to God in times of trouble, because it turned to God before times of trouble.

WHY DID THE GOVERNMENT TAKE OVER WELFARE?

Is there an explanation, a cause, for the government starting and growing the welfare monstrosity we have today?

Yes!

For most of our history the churches of America helped people in real need, with personal, hands-on assistance.

And help usually included addressing the spiritual source and spiritual solution to the people’s problems.

When a real person helps a real person with a real need, there is real accountability built into the relationship.

So what happened?

People in the churches became comfortable with American prosperity.

They left behind the call to deny ourselves and help others.

Instead, their resources shifted to buying more stuff and buying insurance to protect it and storing up for retirement—the American dream.

So, money that was supposed to be used for Biblical welfare, was committed elsewhere.

Helping the needy became someone else’s job, funded by some budget.

First it was the church’s budget, then the government’s budget.

And now it seems irreversible.

Irreversible, unless Christians reverse course, financially.

BENEFITS OF LIFE / DEATH INSURANCE ? ? ?

How does a person experience the benefits of life insurance?

First you have to die.

Then, . . .

The benefits depend on your underwriter.

Life insurance can pay the undertaker.

But, . . .

Only Biblical Insurance pays the Uppertaker.

And that would be Jesus.

Policy already paid in full—in advance.

But you have to sign up for it—in advance.

And that would be . . . NOW.
