WHAT WOULD JESUS SAY ?

There was a “nice” church where everyone dressed and acted nice, like they were expected to.

A visitor came dressed in cowboy boots and hat, with clean clothes, but torn jeans.

After the service, the pastor talked to him and suggested that he pray that week and ask Jesus what he should wear to church, and come back.

He agreed, prayed, and came the next week dressed the same way.

The pastor was surprised and asked him if he prayed about what he should wear to church.

He said Jesus told him to wear the same clothes.

And what did Jesus say about our church’s dress code?

Jesus said He didn’t know—He’d never been there.

I wonder how many churches have lots of expectations for their members, but no Jesus.

PRAY FOR AMERICA AND . . .

A friend sent this reminder:

“Don’t let the devil distract you from praying for Cavanaugh, Trump, and Cruz.”

Cavanaugh and Cruz are learning a whole new chapter in heavier spiritual warfare, even after lifelong walks with God.

Trump is learning FAST in a crash course of what it means to be a new Christian leading the free world, with all-hell released against him.

Sandy Rios (afr.net) and others are nailing it for what it is—war on Jesus and His people, across the (game) board, the battlefield of earth.

“There’s a war going on, and you’re in it.”

WELCOME ALEXA ?

Welcome Alexa ?

Or

Beware Alexa !

The flip side of technology.

We won’t know till it hits us.

We won’t know till it’s too late.

Some have experienced it already.

Alexa—what is it?

Don’t ask me to explain its features, its good and bad, its wonders and worries.

“It listens to me!”

What is it?

Makes me think of another twisted question (unrelated), “What is ‘is’?”

Another analogy:

“Any government big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take everything you’ve got.”

Any technology big enough to give you everything you want, is also big enough to take everything you’ve got.

And now the inevitable—combine government and technology.

More Government + More Technology = More Tyranny.

Weapons that get invented always get implemented.

Technology is the ultimate dream weapon of today.

Who will get to use it first, preemptively, effectively?

A second use of nuclear weapons has been held in check by aversion to national suicide for those who have them.

That is changing.

And use of technology weapons leaves so much uncertainty about the enormous repercussions, that someone is going to try them without regarding the cost.

Back to Alexa:

Without any leap of faith in conspiracy, the greatest danger is trusting the government in exchange for convenience.

America did not become strong through inventions that make life easier, but through hardship endured by pioneers.

We trade strength of character for fragile technology.

We have not yet had the 911 of high tech—and we no longer have what it will take to deal with it.

“WHO HAS BEWITCHED YOU . . . ?

How is it that so many Americans today believe the cool-aid is a health food drink?

They are heading for national suicide that will make Jonestown look like a picnic.

“Who has bewitched you, that you should believe a lie?”—–Bible

If you don’t know the “cool-aid” reference, read the Jonestown Massacre/Suicide.

MY PART ? (1 of 3) – – – “HURRY UP AND WAIT”

Many people and situations in life tell us to “hurry up.”

But “the race is not always to the swift.”

And what might we miss while we are hurrying?

And just what’s with the “up” part?

Get up the ladder—get it done—and then what?

Often, after we hurry up, we have to wait.

Many people in a hurry can’t wait, so . . .

. . . so they hurry to the next rush, and miss more .

And, they miss more of the more important.

The most important things in life take time.

The most important things in life can’t be done in a hurry.

The most important things in life require undivided attention.

The first step in overcoming “the tyranny of the urgent” is to choose some urgent thing that is not going to get done, while choosing some valuable thing to do instead.

God.

Family.

Love.

Faith.

Serving.

And,

Waiting.

God—“Pray without ceasing (no rush)?”

Family—Sacrifice yourself, and give.

Love—Spelled “Time.”

Faith—“Trust in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him.”

Service—“He humbled Himself, and became the Servant of all.”

Waiting—Doing nothing.  “Stand still, and see God save the day.”

So the more Biblical mandate would be:

Instead of “Hurry up and wait,”

Wait first, on God, and then you will have plenty of time to do something that counts—something that He counts.

HURRY UP IS AN OXYMORON

Oh well, it works for me, lately.

THANKFUL FOR SLOW ?

Perspective changes over the years.

Here is my paraphrase tribute to “Hee Haw:”

“If it weren’t for slow speed, I’d have no speed at all.”

I guess that’s worth something, because people laugh heartily when I share it.

END TIMES, SIMPLIFIED

“He’s coming—I’m going” —–Ed Vitagliano (American Family Radio, afr.net)

Me too!

“DOCTRINES OF DEVILS” ?

Two Bible verses:

“A bishop [pastor, priest, church leader] must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behavior . . . ”

“. . . some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils, . . . forbidding to marry.”

No wonder we see the consequences.

FROM “HOMEY DADDY” TO “HOME BODY”

When my children were little and eagerly begged me to pick them up when I came home, they would repeat, “Hold me, Daddy,” which actually sounded like, “Ho’ me, Daddy.”

Now, many decades later, I am very close to my wonderful border collie dog, Buddy.

When I come home, and he is eagerly waiting for me at the gate, I hug him dearly and say, “I’m home, Buddy.”

And so, that is how I’ve come from being a “HOMEY DADDY” to a “HOME BODY.”

I still love being home—I am blessed.
