Always plunge into the Bible, and dig deeply.
Beware anything that drifts toward more of man’s word than God’s Word.
CHRISTIANITY – – – BIBLICAL VS TRADITIONAL
THEOLOGIANS, LOOK AT YOURSELVES . . .
Theologians, look at yourselves, and laugh, or cry, but think.
If you want to claim that all your theology comes directly from the Bible, then anyone should see the connection, not just theologians.
Avoid anything that hints of “trust the biblically educated experts to tell you what the Bible really says.”
The Emperor Has No Clothes—sometimes it takes a child, a fresh, childlike, uncluttered perspective, to see the obvious that others missed, couldn’t see, for going along with what everyone says and everyone is told to believe.
TWO MILLION TIMES – – – NOT TWO BILLION YEARS
Did you see it this morning?
I had the privilege of watching—it was awesome!!!
AMAZING, over and over again!
Stand in awe, and thank God, for one more sunrise, just as phenomenal as the first sunrise that first week six thousand years ago.
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth—and the sun and moon—and day and night.”
I love the little verse, “and He made the stars also.” (‘minor’ detail)
“And God saw everything that He had made, and it was very good.”
Any doubts about the six thousand years?
Get a couple calculators, and a couple fourth graders, with Bibles, and have fun figuring the age of the earth yourself.
(The first 1500 years, the Bible says how long for each generation—the next 2500 years, the Bible says how long for most generations, and how many generations—the next 2000 years since the Bible, we have recorded history to the present year 2020.)
Why fourth graders?—because they will read the Bible just as it is written.
THE CHURCH SAYS IT – – – BUT . . .
. . . But, did God really say it?
To quote the original author of that line, in Eden:
“Did God really say, ‘You shall not eat of that fruit’?”
Examine everything the church says, and tells you to do.
Is it in the Bible?
Or do you have to take their word for it?
If you, or anyone, can see it is in the Bible, great—do it.
If you, or anyone, can not see it is in the Bible, not great—beware!
Don’t count on figuring it out without the Bible.
Don’t count on following the church without the Bible.
“Search the Scriptures yourself, for in them you have eternal life, and they testify of Jesus.”
IS JESUS YOUR SAVIOR ?
If you never say that Jesus is your Savior, it is doubtful that He is.
OCD—READING LABELS REPEATEDLY
Silently reading the same signs or labels (on anything) over and over every time you see them, is usually not something anyone talks about.
But it can be a maddening waste of time and mind.
Suggestion:
Write out Bible verses and stick them over any labels you don’t want to keep reading.
WHAT WOULD JESUS SAY ?
When Jesus walked and talked and preached and taught and healed and rebuked, lots of people came to Him to get their lives right.
He responded many different ways, depending mostly on their degree of honesty and brokenness.
Picture yourself approaching Jesus, just like all those people did.
What exactly would you say?
What exactly would Jesus hear?
What might Jesus say, to you?
Perhaps, actually in Jesus presence, you would think of the song, “I Can Only Imagine.”
Would you stand, would you shout, would you kneel, would you bow, would you fall on your face?
Would you ask Him a puzzling theological question?
Would you ask Him to heal you, or someone?
Would you cry for mercy?
Would you take that rare, once-in-a-lifetime moment to just worship Him and say nothing, knowing that He knows your needs already, because He knows you completely?
Now, you can come to Jesus for real, just as real as face-to-face when He walked here.
But, as the stories show, come straight, real, honest, with nothing.
Are you ready for:
“What Would Jesus Say?”—to you?—to me?
STATE OF THE UNION
Nancy Pelosi searched her printed copy of Trump’s speech throughout his delivery.
She couldn’t find something wrong, so in frustration, all she could do is tear it up.
“Socialism destroys nations, but freedom unites the soul.”—–Donald Trump
“No parent should be forced to send their child to a failing government school.”—–Donald Trump
“We will never let socialism destroy American health care.”—–Donald Trump
GIVING GIVES
“There was a man, they called him mad.
The more he gave, the more he had.”—–John Bunyan
OLD WRITERS
Old writers never die—they just start another story.
