COMFORT – – – COMPROMISE – – – COOKED

Christians in America have been quite comfortable for a long time.  The country was founded on Christian principles, and because of that both the church and the culture were blessed beyond measure.

Too much comfort for too long has brought compromise.  Church leaders have not spoken out against the encroachment of materialism and immorality. And so, Christians have let down their guard, following the culture and its economic system rather than leading on “the narrow way.”

Christians are not supposed to fit in, but be “salt and light” in contrast to the decay and darkness around us.

In America, the culture water pot we are in has gradually heated up without notice or action by the church.  Now, the heat is turned up quickly, and the water is boiling.  Churches and Christians that did not jump out of the pot, find themselves cooked by the culture and unable/unwilling to stand against it.

If you put your money into promises the world offers rather than investing in the Kingdom of God, you lose.  It’s just a matter of time for everyone to see it—to see that God did really say, and He did really mean it:

“Do not lay up treasures on earth, where moth and rust corrupt, and where thieves break in and steal.

But do lay up treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust corrupts, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

For, where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

ATTRACTION – ACTION – RIGHTS – DEMANDS – DOMINANCE

The militant homosexual agenda is not about health, happiness, love, and equality, because it never stops there.  It is about power and control, and it destroys anyone and anything that is not supportive.

But the individual who is sincerely struggling with same-sex attraction, needs people who care enough to make a meaningful difference in his/her life, outside of sex.  That is the ingredient in success stories—identity as a person, not as gay.

Feelings—emotions—are not a stable basis for actions that endanger life and health and true love and blessed marriage with children.

Facts—truth—are clearly the foundation for stable families and cultures.

The benefit of any movement is whether it can stand up to reason and history and the well-being of righteous people.

FUN WITH BIBLE VERSES AND . . . (edited with permission, i hope)

I choose to believe that humor is part of the image of God that we were made in before the fall, rather than part of the consequences we were cursed with after the fall.

“A merry heart does good like medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.”  (you can take that to the bank, and skip the doctor most of the time)

“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.”  Reflection on growing up on the farm—“Whatever your dad’s hand finds for you to do, do it with all your might.”

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother-in-law, and shall cleave unto his wife, and the two shall become one.”  (I added the  “-in-law” part—true, true, true)

Now, the risky one about an ox falling into a ditch on the Sabbath, and of course you pull it out even if it means working on the Sabbath.  I take it to the edge when I work on Sunday on rare occasions, and say that someone has to make the ditch for the ox to fall into.  (I drive a bobcat loader that can dig ditches among other things)  No theology here, please, just humor.

And what about the animals, like giraffes, and ostriches, and platypuses—you can’t tell me God didn’t have some extracurricular fun coming up with those.

And for the fairy tale believers in unicorns—they were real, in the Bible.

And for the dinosaur lovers (those who are sincere and those who think dinosaurs were gone before man—that is, believers in the invention of the evolution religion)—dinosaurs were real, in the Bible, with man.  Check out the leviathan and behemoth in the book of Job.

It’s real fun to discover and believe the accuracy of the Bible, especially when you know the Author, personally.

Fools say there is no God—obvious when they substitute evolution for God.  I just discovered that Psalm 14 and Psalm 53 repeat this truth nearly word for word verse after verse.  That tells us something, twice, underlined, exclamation point.

Let me end with some ‘serious laughter’—just one more of the divine oxymorons that show we’re not God.

“He who sits in the heavens will laugh; the Lord shall have them in derision.”  (check the context of that one—Psalm 2)

“A time to weep, and a time to laugh.”

Indeed.

SIC ‘EM, TED

Thank you, Ted Cruz, in all sincerity, for making waves in Washington.

We need a tsunami to save us soon.

I just learned that Senator Ted Cruz from Texas believes in the Constitution so strongly that he memorized the whole thing.

Meanwhile, BHOB* and Attorney General Eric Holder are members of the organization to have a new constitutional convention and get rid of this foundation of our country.

Trash it and then rewrite it—or memorize it and fight for it.

COMPUTERIZED ACCOUNTABILITY

We’ve all heard the analogy between computers and humans that says simply “Garbage In—Garbage Out.”

Can the computer be used to control garbage coming into our mind and garbage going out through our words?

We have filters that monitor and limit what comes into our computer—to protect the computer from viruses, and to protect the user from some of the bad stuff for humans.

But filters are voluntary, unless you are a child with conscientious parents.  So we’re back to self-control to guard ourselves.

But wait a minute.  We can learn a profoundly sobering lesson on accountability from our “super” computers of today.

Computers record and remember everything, including everything we do on the internet.  We know that someone could review all of it.  Add to that the potential of the government tracking our entire life, unseen and unknown to us.

Now consider computerized accountability that is perfect, thorough, and includes all our thoughts as well as our words and actions.  If we stop and think about it, we have a sense that this is true and real for each of us.

We have no control over the recording.  But we do have control over what we choose to do and say and live—and get recorded.

“As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.”

“It is appointed unto man once to die, and after that the judgment.”

“Every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account for it in the day of judgment.”

There is a song that says,

“One day every knee will bow,

One day every tongue will confess,

‘You Are Lord.’

Still the greatest treasure remains

For those who gladly choose You now.”

How about you?  How about now?  How about choosing Jesus?

Absolute Accountability.

It’s just a matter of when.

GUARANTEED ! ! ! GUARANTEED ? ? ? PERMANENT ! ? ! ? ! ?

Guaranteed Permanent Income—I hear that expression frequently.

Guaranteed Permanent Income—People offer that sincerely.

Guaranteed Permanent Income—Many believe in it.

Guaranteed Permanent Income—Unless . . .

Lifetime Guarantee—It’s promised on a lot of products.

Lifetime Guarantee—Good for the life of the buyer.

Lifetime Guarantee—Good till the product dies.

Lifetime Guarantee—Good till the seller dies.

So, what is “a sure thing” in this whole wide world?

Death and taxes—tell me something new.

If I’m going to live on this earth,

and get up every morning,

and go to work,

eat and go to bed—

tell me something will last,

tell me something really counts,

tell me something has permanent value,

tell me something has permanent meaning.

We all know life on this earth is not permanent—guaranteed.

We also know there has to be meaning in this life—and beyond.

We all pursue answers to life’s questions—and our life reflects that.

We have to find answers—then we are satisfied.

We invent answers that we like—then we live with lingering doubt.

We naturally focus on this life—and almost kill ourselves to be comfortable.

We diligently plan and prepare for the future—as though it is guaranteed.

We invest everything in this life for “someday”—and miss something in this life “today.”

We invest everything in this life for “someday”—and miss something in the next life “forever”.

Are you one of the people who have come up with your own answers to suit your thinking?

Do you think we are free to choose any one of a thousand ideas for a meaningful life?

Do we have freedom to live this life as we please?

Do all roads lead to the same place after this life?

I am writing this to catch you—to stop you for a moment—to think what really matters in the end, and now.

You will find a few more words for thought right here, and answers, starting with 3-6-13, 2-28-13, 2-25-13, 2-20-13, and going back for one year.

“SINCERE” – – – YOU MEAN BHOB*?

A few quotes, and a very short comment of my own—

“I hope that this is sincere,” Republican Rep. Paul Ryan

“I think he is sincere,” Oklahoma Sen. Tom Coburn

“I hope that he’s genuine,” Rep. Cory Gardner, R-Colo.

“Only time will tell,” California Congressman Republican Whip Kevin McCarthy

One more quote from a Congressional leader (I didn’t catch the name) said that BHOB* sounded incredibly sincere.

And, my short comment—“incredible” means “hard to believe”.

Translated—“You’ve got to be kidding!”

FALLING THROUGH THE CRACKS – – – SOMEONE YOU KNOW?

When I shared this with some friends today, it struck such a responsive note, that I decided to post it here.

Professional Counselors

Professional Counselees

We never hear about the families who try to get professional help, and still fall through the cracks.  Far too many fail needlessly.  Why?  Here is part of the answer—what happens too often:

The professional counselor gets what he/she wants—money for well-worded analysis and advice.

The professional counselee gets what he/she wants—support and understanding—while the crack widens.

LEADERSHIP FOR THE RESISTANCE

“It’s time for pastors to stop preaching about Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and start acting like Bonhoeffer.”     —–Jim Garlow (Skyline Church, La Mesa, CA)

RELIGIOUS COURTESY—POLITICAL COURTESY—THEN WHAT?

First the preachers tried to be courteous and compatible with the culture, and then with the dictator.

Then the preachers found they had to compromise with the dictator, when it was too late to confront, in order to keep their churches open (a little longer).

Then the preachers faced the shame of their cowardice, and paid the price in losing what they had not stood for.

First the politicians tried to be courteous and compatible with the dictator.

Then the politicians found they had to compromise with the dictator, when cowardice and pressure to keep their position was more important than confrontation.

Then the politicians faced losing their skin, and had to participate in the tyranny, against their fellow citizens.

Is it Germany?  Or is it America?  It is both.

Why does history have to repeat itself in our country?  We were so exceptional, with the exception of right now.

Preachers wimped out.  Christians followed suit.  What more can we expect from politicians?  Thank God there are exceptions.

When leading preachers admit they are told what they can say and can’t say, we are in trouble.

When leading politicians properly drill and expose nominees (traitors) to cabinet positions, and then vote for them anyway “as a courtesy to the office of president”, we are in trouble.

AND – – – – – BHOB* is very pleased to pass on the courtesy and the compromise to our enemies on behalf of America.  He already bowed down to them, in person.  Now we are making surrender official, for him.  Why shouldn’t he release all the criminal illegal aliens and simultaneously let knives back on airplanes?

It sounds to me like the next terrorist attack, the beginning of the crisis to establish full Muslim tyranny, is imminent.
