Now that title should increase readership. Someone has to respond to this:

You know how they say love is a verb, to broaden its meaning. Well, I just thought chocolate should be a verb too, because when you have to have it, it means more than just an object.

In case you think I’m writing something for fun because heavy stuff has disappeared, please note: I’m working on learning the fine art of humor to help deal with the challenges of the world and more frequent birthdays. I love birthdays—it’s just all the stuff between that adds up to more than a year’s worth. And these comments are intentionally extra wordy to reflect the extra overloads of life, in mine and in my friends’.

As I soberly ponder the convictions and the words of those who spoke and wrote and sacrificed for freedom in the past, I wonder where the defenders of liberty will come from now.

I do not know what will be asked of us soon, but it may well include the following:

“I would rather die fighting for The Republic of Texas than helplessly watch The United States of America surrender to Islam.”

WHERE’S YOUR HEART? – – – WHERE’S YOUR MONEY?

Your heart and your money will not be in two different places.

It is worth your time to do the following:

Make a simple pie graph with a circle showing all your assets, dividing the graph into proportional wedges.

Make another simple pie graph showing all your current spending, also dividing the graph into proportional wedges.

The first shows where you have laid up your treasures. Some call it investment security.

The second shows where you are laying up more of your treasures now. Some call this a budget.

Jesus said both graphs tell where your heart is.

So, transfer both graphs from circles to hearts, and put them up where you will see them daily.

Conviction and changed lives follow when we comprehend the words, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

EVERY MORNING – – – I’M WITH YOU – – – FAITHFUL

Fresh inspiration for anyone married – – –

“Your mercies are new every morning.”

“When I wake up, I am still with you.”

“Great is your faithfulness.”

Some of you may recognize those as Bible verses about God.

I’m asking you to take a bold step and apply them to your marriage.

Literally, word for word, try saying one of them aloud to your spouse first thing in the morning.

They do apply to marriage, just like a Christian’s relationship with God, because He made the analogy.

This will not only inspire—it may challenge you look at your spouse and yourself in a new way.

heard they were

one vote short.

That one preacher

called twenty preachers.

Seven preachers

went to visit and pray with

one state senator.

That one state senator

changed his one vote.

That’s how the people of North Carolina got to vote on marriage.

61% of the people voted for marriage God’s way—39% against.

“We the people . . .”

GIVE UP ?

After you’ve given everything you have to give, and you give up—then what?

Can God make anything out of your life when all you have left to give is “. . . up”?

Isn’t it interesting that the phrase “give up” has the word “up” in it.

So, when we give up in the presence of God, He can work with that.

POSITIVE PERSECUTION

(Inspired by Sandy Rios this morning on AFR Talk.)

What if it should be true for Christians in the American church, that intense persecution will be the key to the fourth great awakening?

There was testimony this morning again that it was true in China in the 20th century. It is also true in the Bible, from the beginning of the Christian church.

American Christianity has been the exception, but not for much longer.

In the light of what is ahead, here is a word for American pastors. If you have reasons not to get involved in politics now, to recapture and preserve our religious freedom, then please start now telling your people what to expect and how to deal with the certainty of coming persecution.

As I’ve said before, one of my greatest concerns is that most Christians in this country won’t understand what hit them and won’t know what to do when severe persecution comes to America for the first time.

Real Christianity—coming right up.
