{"id":7849,"date":"2026-02-28T13:10:15","date_gmt":"2026-02-28T19:10:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.awordforthought.com\/?p=7849"},"modified":"2026-02-28T13:10:16","modified_gmt":"2026-02-28T19:10:16","slug":"once-saved-always-saved-mistake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.awordforthought.com\/?p=7849","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;ONCE SAVED &#8211; ALWAYS SAVED&#8221; &#8212;&#8211;MISTAKE"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This article is not joining debate about the doctrine.<br>It is addressing a principle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The mistake is labeling with human wording what the Bible \u2018says\u2019 (whether it says so or not).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We want to come up with statements that make us comfortable, when some Bible verses make us uncomfortable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We want to settle questions and debates over passages in the Bible that say one thing while other passages seem to say something different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some are compelled to defend the Bible, and try to explain everything and answer every question to our satisfaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You might say they could put their name on the Bible, for all they have added to make it clear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Okay, several well-known Bible teachers have done exactly that.<br>&#8212; Jeremiah Study Bible<br>&#8212; MacArthur Study Bible<br>I appreciate listening to these two faithful leaders, but I would stop short of putting their name on the Bible.<br>It would be better to just print &#8220;THE BIBLE&#8221;&#8212;and include personal notes, but not part of the Bible with their name up front.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(It can be said that &#8220;Study Bible&#8221; is redundant.)<br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This article is not joining debate about the doctrine.It is addressing a principle.
