{"id":7791,"date":"2026-01-02T08:13:22","date_gmt":"2026-01-02T14:13:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.awordforthought.com\/?p=7791"},"modified":"2026-01-02T08:13:24","modified_gmt":"2026-01-02T14:13:24","slug":"why-do-we-want-to-know-why","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.awordforthought.com\/?p=7791","title":{"rendered":"WHY DO WE WANT TO KNOW &#8216;WHY?&#8217; ?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Why do we want to know &#8220;WHY?&#8221; ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Why do we try to explain &#8220;WHY?&#8221; ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We think that if we can explain why things happen, especially bad things, we can somehow change what happens, for the better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Explaining why things happen remains very limited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Changing what we can change, for the better, remains very limited, despite our best efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The problem of evil&#8212;explaining evil&#8212;stays with us, mostly unchanged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, what can we say ?<br>What can we say that hasn&#8217;t been said ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>All I know is to say what God said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The day you eat of it (the forbidden fruit), you shall surely die.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The thief (the devil) comes to kill, steal, and destroy&#8212;I (Jesus) came that you may have life, and have it more abundantly.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;In the world you will have tribulation (trouble), but be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Why do we want to know &#8220;WHY?&#8221; ?
