{"id":6395,"date":"2024-03-27T11:00:22","date_gmt":"2024-03-27T16:00:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.awordforthought.com\/?p=6395"},"modified":"2024-03-27T11:20:42","modified_gmt":"2024-03-27T16:20:42","slug":"disagree-or-disrespect","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.awordforthought.com\/?p=6395","title":{"rendered":"DISAGREE &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; OR &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; DISRESPECT"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Family &#8211; &#8211; &#8211;<br>Members of a family will disagree.<br>If disagree means disrespect, there is trouble.<br>Disagree does not have to become disrespect.<br>Disagree must not equal disrespect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If only&#8212;if couples could hear this before they get married.<br>If only&#8212;if married couples could get this before they get in trouble&#8212;trouble just because they assume disagree equals disrespect whenever there is conflict.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Saying &#8216;yes&#8217; and &#8216;repeat after me&#8217; at the altar may be too late, meaningless, minds a million miles away.<br>Some things have to be decided before marriage.<br>Some things need to be promised, spoken, written before marriage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1- Decide to be faithful in the marriage* until death.<br>2- Decide to love the wife*, respect the husband*, until death.<br>3- Decide to not let disagreement endanger faithfulness, love, and respect.<br>4- Decide to put disagreement in a cage, where it can&#8217;t touch the marriage with doubt about faithfulness, love, and respect.<br>5- Decide whether to feed the disagreement in the cage and make it stronger&#8212;or dismantle the disagreement.  Save any useful parts and throw the others away.<br>6- Decide that unresolved disagreements will be decided by the husband&#8212;already decided together to not let disagreement endanger faithfulness, love, and respect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; &#8211; &#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most couples getting married&#8212;caught up in love&#8212;dream and imagine that faithfulness for both*, and love for the wife*, and respect for the husband*, will fall in place and last forever because they care so much for each other, now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now&#8212;hmmm !<br>Nobody knows what is ahead after &#8216;now&#8217; is over.<br>Rarely ? or Never ? does &#8216;now&#8217; last forever !<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, what is a couple to do that don&#8217;t have a clue ?<br>So, what is a couple to think when they don&#8217;t think about this ?<br>So, what is a couple to talk about when they don&#8217;t want to talk about it ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; &#8211; &#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>*&#8221;What God has joined together, let no one separate.\u201d<br>*&#8221;Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her . . . Let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself.&#8221;<br>*&#8221;Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord . . .
