{"id":6309,"date":"2024-02-24T15:06:56","date_gmt":"2024-02-24T21:06:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.awordforthought.com\/?p=6309"},"modified":"2024-03-10T22:52:25","modified_gmt":"2024-03-11T03:52:25","slug":"get-the-bible-over-with-first-then","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.awordforthought.com\/?p=6309","title":{"rendered":"GET THE BIBLE OVER WITH FIRST, THEN . . ."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Observing Christian financial advice for many decades, some things become clear to me, as they were clear to Daddy over half a century ago, for the rest of his life.<br>I see a pattern of sharing solid, Biblical principles and verses first, like a tithe of time to God&#8217;s Word.<br>Then it seems business as usual, advising to make more money &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; according to . . . ?<br>. . . mostly according to the principles of the American economy, not so much the blanket warnings of Jesus about our money telling where our heart is.<br>&#8211; &#8211; &#8211;<br>The counsel seems to say that His words, &#8220;Where your treasure is, your heart will be also&#8221;, do not apply if we keep our heart in the right place, no matter how much money we have stashed &#8220;for many years&#8221;, and seeking more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; &#8211; &#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Does &#8216;sacrifice&#8217; enter the conversations\/advice about money, with those who have considerable amounts of it ?*<br>Is it not true that those who have much money can be most readily advised how to make more ?<br>&#8211; &#8211; &#8211;<br>How much do we need ?<br>The people who have a lot, talk and live like they need a lot for &#8216;someday&#8217;.<br>&#8220;Do you need this saved money to live on, or just want to see it grow?&#8221; (Many times the answer is no&#8212;don&#8217;t need it to live on.)<br>What about giving it away ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; &#8211; &#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Back to the word &#8216;sacrifice&#8217;.*<br>What about giving it away&#8212;WHETHER YOU HAVE A LOT OR A LITTLE ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;If you are not generous in giving when you have little, it is doubtful that you will be generous when you have much.&#8221;&#8212;&#8211;Larry Burkett<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>&nbsp;<\/sup>&#8220;He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much.  No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other.
