{"id":589,"date":"2012-07-28T22:52:07","date_gmt":"2012-07-29T04:52:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.awordforthought.com\/?p=589"},"modified":"2012-07-28T22:52:07","modified_gmt":"2012-07-29T04:52:07","slug":"t-e-x-a-n","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.awordforthought.com\/?p=589","title":{"rendered":"T E X A N"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What adjectives do you need to describe a Texan?<\/p>\n<p>Would the complete list include the following:<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;proud<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;loyal<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;independent<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;patriotic<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;good<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;old fashioned (values)<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;hard-working<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;brave<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;native<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;devoted<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;unconventional<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;one-of-a-kind<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;volatile (if you mess with Texas, you may wish you hadn&#8217;t)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Okay, I could easily go on with more adjectives, because I believe in them personally.\u00a0 But let me tell you what prompted the list.\u00a0 I here make an apology to all who did not hear my severe mis-statement about Texas yesterday.\u00a0 My friend nailed me for accidentally saying &#8220;ordinary Texan&#8221; in a conversation about my loyalty to Texas.\u00a0 I promise I will never make that mistake again.<\/p>\n<p>Now, back to the list.\u00a0 I do not need to make the list complete, or even add to it.\u00a0 In fact, we don&#8217;t need that list altogether.\u00a0 Truth is, &#8221; T E X A N &#8221;\u00a0 stands alone, speaks for itself, needs no adjective.<\/p>\n<p>Several months ago I wrote about the various words to describe politicians, and they are many and colorful.\u00a0 But no one ever puts an adjective in front of\u00a0 &#8220;statesman.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>So it is with\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 &#8221;\u00a0 T\u00a0 E\u00a0 X\u00a0 A\u00a0 N\u00a0 &#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>You haven&#8217;t seen the last of us.\u00a0 More later, or sooner.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What adjectives do you need to describe a Texan?
