{"id":5388,"date":"2023-03-12T09:50:39","date_gmt":"2023-03-12T14:50:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.awordforthought.com\/?p=5388"},"modified":"2023-03-12T09:50:40","modified_gmt":"2023-03-12T14:50:40","slug":"worry-anticipation-of-the-unknown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.awordforthought.com\/?p=5388","title":{"rendered":"WORRY &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; ANTICIPATION OF THE UNKNOWN"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Every counsel to not worry has a flipside&#8212;that we must plan&#8212;that we must take care of things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a serious problem when we apply human counsel to flip Bible verses to fit our thinking for ourselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;God helps those who help themselves&#8221; is not even in the Bible&#8212;it doesn&#8217;t match with the Bible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;<sup>\u00a0<\/sup>Come now, you who say, &#8216;Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit&#8217;;<sup>\u00a0<\/sup>whereas you do not know what <em>will happen<\/em> tomorrow. For what <em>is<\/em> your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead you <em>ought<\/em> to say, &#8216;If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.&#8217; But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Take no thought for tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself. The problems of tomorrow will be sufficient for tomorrow.  [Don&#8217;t add tomorrow&#8217;s troubles onto today.]&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are the verses immediately before:<br>&#8220;Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, With what shall we be clothed?<br>(For the unbelievers seek after all these things.)
