A LIFE-THREATENING STORM"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Jesus&#8217; disciples lost all faith in survival and thought they were going to drown in a sudden storm on the Sea of Gallilee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Waves were getting in the boat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seasoned fishermen can die just like anyone else, and they were scared to death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; &#8211; &#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oh, but Jesus was with them, so they should not have been afraid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, just like us&#8212;we know Jesus is with us, but we still lose it when the waves come overboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; &#8211; &#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But Jesus was asleep, and waking Him meant admitting they were at their wits end, embarrassing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And, just like us&#8212;sometimes it feels like Jesus may as well be sleeping in our storm-tossed boat, and in our attempted self-sufficiency we delay calling out to Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; &#8211; &#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Did Jesus save the disciples?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, that day he saved their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He had a mission for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That mission included opposition that threatened their very lives&#8212;not by a storm on water, but at the hands of men who hated their message that Jesus is the way, the only way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And Jesus did not save them then.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They gave their lives, and Jesus gave them perfect LIFE in heaven&#8212;the ultimate &#8220;Peace be still, and the waves and wind died down, and suddenly there was a great calm.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; &#8211; &#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When we &#8220;Call on Him in the day of our trouble&#8221;&#8212;whether right away or delayed&#8212;&#8220;He will deliver us, and we will glorify Him.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes (but not always) we get to glorify Him for deliverance here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Always, forever, we get to glorify Him in heaven, in the presence of Jesus (and those same disciples that were so scared, more than once).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; &#8211; &#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oh, the title above&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What really terrified the disciples more than the storm was the realization when Jesus instantly made the wind and waves obey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WHO IS THIS REALLY, IN OUR BOAT, that we are following?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We left everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Where is He taking us?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Little did they know, yet, but it was starting to sink in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>May it be so for you and me today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; &#8211; &#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You fearful saints, fresh courage take;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The storms you so much dread<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Are filled with mercy and shall break<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In blessings on your head.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jesus&#8217; disciples lost all faith in survival and thought they were going to drown in a sudden storm on the Sea of Gallilee.
