{"id":4726,"date":"2021-12-22T18:30:00","date_gmt":"2021-12-23T00:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.awordforthought.com\/?p=4726"},"modified":"2021-12-22T18:32:04","modified_gmt":"2021-12-23T00:32:04","slug":"but-you-do","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.awordforthought.com\/?p=4726","title":{"rendered":"BUT YOU DO . . ."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Consider this common situation between two people (particularly in marriage):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One person brings a sincere complaint to the other, and the second person&#8217;s defensive response is, &#8220;But you do this other thing, that bothers me as well.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Any criticism that only serves as a rebuttal or diversion from a complaint, is not legitimate to bring up at that time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If one is not concerned enough about an issue to bring it up independently, it only serves to evade, when mentioned while dealing with another matter raised by the other person. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bartering with faults is not wise or productive.
