{"id":1807,"date":"2013-03-07T06:53:37","date_gmt":"2013-03-07T12:53:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.awordforthought.com\/?p=1807"},"modified":"2013-03-08T00:42:06","modified_gmt":"2013-03-08T06:42:06","slug":"whats-happening","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.awordforthought.com\/?p=1807","title":{"rendered":"WHAT&#8217;S HAPPENING?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When does it hit you?<\/p>\n<p>At what point in your day do you typically feel you &#8220;have to &#8221; find out what&#8217;s happening in your world?\u00a0 I&#8217;m talking about all of it&#8212;news, weather, messages, email, internet&#8212;actually, all the stuff that was not instantly available a few generations ago.<\/p>\n<p>Do you ever try this experiment on yourself&#8212;refrain from turning &#8220;it&#8221; on, and see what happens to you?\u00a0 It should take only about 30 seconds for some observable data to appear, in you.<\/p>\n<p>I tried it this morning.\u00a0 My dog woke me up to go out twenty minutes before the alarm.\u00a0 So I stayed up and listened to David Jeremiah talk about meditating on the Word of God.\u00a0 Then the news came on (which always gives something to think about and write about), and I turned it off.\u00a0 There was a feeling of vacuum right away, almost physical.<\/p>\n<p>Then another typical, daily compulsion hit me.\u00a0 I &#8220;had to&#8221; turn on the computer and write this commentary while the thought was fresh. By the way, do you ever feel a bit anxious <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">waiting<\/span> for your <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">fast<\/span> computer to turn on?\u00a0 Just exactly what is happening to us these days?\u00a0 Push.\u00a0 Push.\u00a0 Push.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So&#8221; conclusions:<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;We&#8217;re <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">so<\/span> loaded with information, that we . . . &#8220;have to&#8221; have more.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;We&#8217;re <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">so<\/span> &#8220;busy in a hurry&#8221; (Americans&#8217; epitaph), that we . . . can&#8217;t stop and smell the roses (live).<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;We&#8217;re <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">so<\/span> &#8220;all scheduled up&#8221; (for success), that we . . . can&#8217;t face the reality question &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; How much satisfies?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>How much will it take to satisfy?<\/p>\n<p>How much of what I have now, satisfies now?<\/p>\n<p>What am I addicted to, that does not satisfy?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By the way, the last word on the radio message this morning was urging us to ask God for wisdom to understand and apply His Word (takes time&#8212;best spent on our knees).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When does it hit you?
