A short, personal reflection on my own “to do list.”<\/p>\n
I’ve been told that one of the reasons I struggle with remembering the things I have to do, is the overload of open files that can’t get done now on the computer screen of my life.<\/p>\n
I worry about the things I forget, that cost me in real time and real dollars.\u00a0 So I have to leave myself visual reminders for the top priorities (if I remember).<\/p>\n
When I try to make a master list of everything I need to do, I can’t remember them all just to write them down.<\/p>\n
I noticed something very interesting this morning when I kneeled to pray.\u00a0 For several minutes, dozens of items on that master “to do list” came to mind effortlessly one after another, calling for my attention.\u00a0 I was not going to stop and think about any of them, although it would have been a perfect time to record a complete list.<\/p>\n
I just kept saying, “Jesus,” to let Him cover what I can’t keep track of.<\/p>\n
Now you probably expect me to say I got up from my knees and made that list and figured out my day and planned the month and the year.<\/p>\n
No.\u00a0 I don’t have a “handle” on the undone things that frustrate me.\u00a0 Memory is still difficult and costly for me.\u00a0 But this morning when I said Jesus’ name for everything that came across my mind and left, I was telling Him to keep track of my time to pray and my time to do.<\/p>\n
I have no choice.\u00a0 I can’t do as much myself anymore.\u00a0 Sometimes I can’t do anything by myself.\u00a0 That’s why I ask God to anoint me, and then I say a Bible verse, “I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.”<\/p>\n
