{"id":1420,"date":"2012-12-26T12:01:07","date_gmt":"2012-12-26T18:01:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.awordforthought.com\/?p=1420"},"modified":"2013-01-02T10:20:10","modified_gmt":"2013-01-02T16:20:10","slug":"twas-the-day-after-christmas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.awordforthought.com\/?p=1420","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;TWAS THE DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m a writer, but not a poet, so I read a few items on the internet with the above title.\u00a0 Bottom line&#8212;check out the one at &#8220;The Foundry&#8221; from The Heritage Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Twas the day after Christmas, and<\/p>\n<p>. . .this morning J.J.Jasper on American Family Radio mentioned that nothing clears out faster than a circus the day after it&#8217;s over, except for Christmas the day after.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 That has often bothered me.\u00a0 Others must feel the same way, because you see some Christmas lights for a week after.\u00a0 But, for the most part, never a hint of Christmas in a business or public place.<\/p>\n<p>I believe this reflects the true meaning of Christmas&#8212;missing in commercial, material pursuits before the &#8220;holiday.&#8221;\u00a0 If that is all of your Christmas, you put it away as fast as you can December 26, because you have nothing left to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">gain<\/span> after the day.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Twas the day after Christmas, and<\/p>\n<p>. . . that was nice&#8212;in fact, it was wonderful.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Twas the day after Christmas, and<\/p>\n<p>. . . we had fun&#8212;and food&#8212;and then some.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Twas the day after Christmas, and<\/p>\n<p>. . . reality returns&#8212;back to work and worry.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Twas the day after Christmas, and<\/p>\n<p>. . . it&#8217;ll take a few days to recover&#8212;understatement&#8212;name the category.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Twas the day after Christmas, and<\/p>\n<p>. . . there&#8217;s no sign of Christmas, except for the return lines for stuff you don&#8217;t need or don&#8217;t like.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Twas the day after Christmas, and<\/p>\n<p>. . . and . . . did I miss something?<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Twas the day after Christmas, and<\/p>\n<p>. . . THAT&#8217;S ALL, FOLKS.<\/p>\n<p>NO !\u00a0\u00a0 NO !\u00a0\u00a0 NO !\u00a0\u00a0 Please don&#8217;t let that happen to you.\u00a0 Baby Jesus didn&#8217;t disappear the day after Christmas.\u00a0 His purpose here had only begun.\u00a0 He changed people&#8217;s lives for years.\u00a0 And then you know how His life ended&#8212;but it didn&#8217;t end.\u00a0 That part of His job was done, &#8220;IT IS FINISHED.&#8221;\u00a0 But even then His work was not done.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Twas the day after Christmas, and<\/p>\n<p>. . . that is only the beginning of the story<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Twas the day after Christmas, and<\/p>\n<p>. . . why hasn&#8217;t He come to fix everything?<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Twas the day after Christmas, and . . . <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">AND<\/span><\/p>\n<p>. . .
